DETAILED ITINERARY: MATUSADONA SAFARI (WSM5)
Day 1. Arrive at Kariba Airport and transfer by road to Kariba Breezes Marina, where you board the Rupert Fothergill boat to Fothergill Safari Lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game viewing safari by boat or safari vehicle. The first night is spent at Fothergill Safari Lodge in luxury rooms with en suite facilities. L/D
On arrival at Fothergill you will be met by a representative of Matusadona Tented Safari camp who will brief you on the safari to follow. Each guest will be given a safari bag in which they pack their safari kit for the next three days. (The remainder of your luggage will be locked at Fothergill for collection at the end of your stay.)
Day 2. After an early morning coffee/tea depart at 6.30 am in a 4 wheel drive safari vehicle for a wilderness drive through the Matusadona Mountains. Stop along the road for a late morning “Brunch in the Bush”. Arrive at Matusadona Tented Safari Camp in time for a short siesta before the afternoon safari. Dinner is served under the stars. Accommodation is in spacious walk-in tents, each furnished with twin full-sized beds, free standing furniture and en suite facilities. Additional comforts include hot water showers, a full bar service and a full complement of staff. The camp can take a maximum of 10 guests. B/L/D
Day 3,4. Enjoy the safari activities which emphasize walking with limited driving. You will walk approximately 3 hours at a time, accompanied by an armed, professional guide, who will lead you through beautiful savanna woodlands and remote areas inaccessible by vehicle. Many species of big game are likely to be encountered in this area. These include the endangered black rhino and the rare roan antelope. The safaris will be a learning experience about the surrounding fauna and flora. Accommodation at Matusadona Tented Safari Camp in luxury tents with en suite facilities. B/L/D
Day 5. After early breakfast transfer by road or aircraft to Fothergill Island to connect with the midday boat transfer to Kariba Airport. B only
