Africa’s Tanzania Wildlife Game Tour Adventure
When people think of Africa and safari’s, they picture great herds of elephants, prides of lions strolling across the plains and all the other animals normally seen in a zoo. Tanzania offers all of those, with tours for game sighting, hunting and photo safari.
In NgoroNgoro Conservation Area, 4-wheel drive vehicles descend to the floor of the crater. Inside the collapsed caldera of this ancient volcano visitors can expect to see wildebeest, zebra, many varieties of antelope, lions, cheetah and buffalo. On the crater’s rim visitors may see baboons, an elephant and, for the very lucky, a rare black rhinoceros.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here.
In the nearby Serengeti National Park, adventurous visitors chase down leopards, hippopotamus, lions and elephants. Twice a year the “Great Migration” of wildebeest and zebra moves through the park. 750,000 of these animals circle between Tanzania and Kenya every year, following food sources, and a good tour guide knows where to find them.
There is nothing quite like the first time you watch a wild giraffe cross the dirt track in front of you. Or seeing a well-fed pride of lions napping in the shade just meters away. By the time the tour is over, zoos just aren’t good enough anymore.
